DIPLOMATIC TRAFFIC ACCELERATES IN CYPRUS
Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan is to pay an official visit to the TRNC on Thursday. Babacan will have discussions with state and government officials during his one day official visit. Cyprus issue is expected to be on top of Babacan’s discussions.

On the other hand, Caroline Flint, British Minister of State for Europe and then Olli Rehn, EU Commissioner Responsible from Enlargement will come to Cyprus next week. Flint arrives on the island for a two day visit on the 9th of February followed by the EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn on the 13th.

POSITION OF SIDES ON PROPERTY WILL BE DISCUSSED

President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Dimitris Christofias will continue to take up the issue of property when they meet today to resume the negotiations process. The two sides will be submitting their initial responses and criticisms regarding the proposals they tabled in the last meeting.

Presidential Spokesperson Hasan Ercakica said: “We prepared a response regarding Greek Cypriot views in terms of both universal legal principles and parameters of Cyprus issue. We will convey them.”

SWEDISH MP’S IN TRNC

Swedish members of Parliament Anne Ludvigsson, Kerstin Engle, Gunilla Wahlen, Monica Green, Ameer Sachet and Anders Arvidsson have come to the TRNC the night before yesterday as the guests of TRNC Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Turgay Avci.

Within the framework of their contacts, the Swedish MP’s will meet Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Turgay Avci and Speaker of TRNC Assembly Fatma Ekenoğlu today, and on Thursday they will be received by the TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat.

IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR LEFKOSA WALLED-CITY

A cooperation protocol which envisages moving of the work places which cause noise and visual pollution in Lefkosa walled-city to Lefkosa Industrial Area was signed between the Prime Ministry and Lefkosa Turkish Municipality (LTB).

The protocol was signed by Under-secretary of Prime Ministry Ontac Duzgun and Mayor of LTB Cemal Bulutogluları.

According to the protocol signed as a result of an agreement by the Prime Ministry Lefkosa walled-city Monitoring and Coordination Council and Lefkosa Turkish Municipality, nearly 70 dirty and noisy work places in Lefkosa walled-city will be transferred to 100 or 200 m² work places to be constructed in the Lefkosa Industrial Area.
