NAMI AND YAKOVU MADE INVESTIGATIONS IN PIRGO AND YESILIRMAK
The two aides Ozdil Nami and Yorgos Yakovu met at the buffer zone in Lefkosa yesterday and departed to the region in the same vehicle accompanied by Mr. Zerihoun. Nami. Yakovu and Zerihoun’s first stop was Yesilirmak village where the villagers who are opposing the opening of the gate put up flags and placards to the entrance of the village.
Speaking after the tour Nami said opening the Yesilirmak Gate and providing crossing to Erenkoy village is an important step achieved as a result of the agreement reached by the two leaders.
MOST OF THE TURKISH HERITAGE IN SOUTH HAS BEEN DAMAGED
It has been found out that most of the Turkish Cultural Heritage has been damaged in South Cyprus .
Heritage in North and South Cyprus Evaluation Committee which is working under the Presidency discovered after their works that most of the portable Turkish religious cultural heritage in South Cyprus has been damaged.
It is stated that the mosques and tombs in South Cyprus which are very valuable religious and cultural heritage did not exist any more. However as it is confirmed by the international reports the portable heritages like icons in churches in the North are being under protection after 1974.
On the other hand according to the ‘exchange of population’ in 1976-1977 it is confirmed by the documents and photographs that Greek Cypriot Priests and Mukhtars took many portable heritages with them while they passed to South.
USA CONGRESS MEMBERS AND MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN TURKISH COUNCIL HAD CONTACTS IN TRNC

Members of the American Turkish Council and USA Congress paid a visit to the President Mehmet Ali Talat, Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu and Speaker of the Parliament Hasan Bozer yesterday. The delegation exchanged views related to the Cyprus problem and the latest developments in the negotiations
