PRESIDENT TALAT VISITS ANTHROPOLOGY LABORATORY

President Mehmet Ali Talat has visited the Anthropology Laboratory, set up in the UN-controlled buffer zone by the Committee of Missing Persons, which has been carrying out excavations to find the remains of missing persons in Cyprus.

President Talat donated 50-thousand dollars to the Committee, which has been carrying out exhumations on both sides of the island.

Talat stated that he visited the laboratory to reiterate that both the Turkish Cypriot side and the TRNC Presidency have been doing their best to support the project being realized by the Committee.

Stressing that the missing persons issue is a humanitarian issue and that it should not be politicized, he expressed that the project was successful since it wasn’t politicized.

Talat also underlined that it was not possible to ease the pain felt by relatives of the missing persons but, they were trying to relieve them.

“PROTEST” AGAINST FOREIGN MINISTER MILIBAN

‘Embargoed’, the group for the human rights of the Turkish Cypriots who live in the UK protested British Foreign Minister David Miliban.

According to the information given by the ‘Embargoed’, an old slipper was given to Foreign Minister Miliban during a dinner in London in order to protest the failure of the British government to end the isolation imposed upon North Cyprus .

‘The slipper’ was packed with the then Foreign Minister Jack Straw’s letter which was named as “feckless letter” by the ‘Embargoed’. Straw promised direct trade and direct flight to North Cyprus in accordance with the demand of a strong application signed by 16,000 people in November 2005.
