FOREIGN MINISTER AVCI: “GREEK CYPRIOT LEADERSHIP WILL NOT GET ANY RESULT FROM ITS UNGROUNDED INITIATIVES”
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Turgay Avci said that the recent statements of Stefanos Stefanu, Greek Cypriot government spokesman, demonstrated that Greek Cypriot leadership tried to put the responsibility of being unable to reach a solution in the island on Turkey and to make Turkey pay for its intransigence. Avci emphasized that Greek Cypriot leadership would not get any result from its ungrounded initiatives.
While stating that it was the Greek Cypriot side who was trying to block the process of negotiations by bringing proposals entirely out of the criteria set by the UN and agreements between the leaders from the first day of the comprehensive negotiations process, Avci emphasized that Greek Cypriot side maintains its rigid and intransigent attitude not only while discussing the issues of administration and power sharing, but also during the negotiation of the property issue.
Avci also underlined that the Greek Cypriot administration, who perceived rigid and aggressive policy on the property issue due to its aims at exploiting it for political purposes, was threatening and intimidating some Greek Cypriots who applied to the Property Commission, which was set up in the TRNC to find a solution based on justice and humanity.
