AVCI: “WORDING OF ISOLATIONS, FAR FROM REALITY"
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Turgay Avcı commented on the report issued to the Security Council by UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon detailing the UN Peace Forces activities in Cyprus, and expressed his disappointment in the report as its wording did not accurately convey true occurrences. In his announcement delivered the day before, Avcı evaluated the report of UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon. Informing that detailed activities with respect to the report are continuing, Avcı stated that together with this analysis, it would be beneficial to share with the public some particular points. Making reference to the 45th paragraph of the UN General Secretary’s report, Avcı underlined that the wording and its accompanying conations inaccurately conveyed the realities of the economic, social, cultural and sportive isolations adopted upon the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) and added, “No effective measure has been adopted especially with regards to isolations, and we are disappointed by the approach of the UN General Secretary for when we consider that no physical progress has been made.”
