PASCOE: “TURKEY IS PROVIDING STRONG SUPPORT TO THE RESOLUTION OF THE CYPRUS PROBLEM”

UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon’s Deputy for Political Affairs, Lynn Pascoe, stated that Turkey is providing strong support in attaining a solution to the Cyprus problem.

Repeating his views that, “We are significantly hopeful preceding the meetings between the two sides of Cyprus”, Pascoe reiterated that he had issued the Security Council an extremely positive report and added; “We are all aware that there are many difficult issues we must resolve, but fortunately work groups have been constructed for these important issues, the process is developing well and we prefer that the groups begin discussing core issues within next week.”

Pascoe added, “Turkey is extremely dedicated to the resolving of the Cyprus issue. In our meetings, they have announced that they will provide strong support. I today read that the Turkish Minister for Foreign Affairs will provide strong support to the issue. I firmly believe that Turkey is keen in providing its necessary support in resolving the Cyprus issue.”

PRESIDENT TALAT ACCEPTS JOAN RYAN

President Mehmet Ali Talat received British Special Representative for Cyprus Joan Ryan. After completing contacts in South Cyprus, Joan Ryan first met in the TRNC with President Talat.

British Special Representative for Cyprus Joan Ryan mentioned of the encouragement after meeting with the two Cypriot leaders.

Reiterating that a good opportunity for a solution prevails, the Special Representative underlined that as a force of guarantee, we will do all in our power for the process to end with success.

Stating that a positive and constructive meeting was accomplished with president Talat, Ryan noted of how Talat was eager in acquiring a just and viable solution.
